The Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Solomon Gafabusa Iguru has again reshuffled his cabinet dropping seven ministers.

This is the third cabinet reshuffle in the year 2012. In the July 13 letter signed by the Omukama and addressed to the prime minister, cabinet has been trimmed to ten ministers down from seventeen.

In the reshuffle, the Omukama has also made some transfers of his old ministers while retaining others in their old posts. A new face, Godfrey Sseguja, has been appointed to the finance, investment, planning and project development portfolio. Sseguja replaces Ssedrack Nyaika.

Little is known about Sseguja and URN could not readily get his comment. Among those dropped is the kingdom deputy prime minister and skills development minister, Proscovia Bamutura, Father Bonny Kyaligonza, minister in charge foreign investment and former Acting kingdom prime minister.

Others are Ssedrack Nyaika for finance and George Kyaligonza for external security among others. The Omukama has instructed the kingdom prime minister Reverend Jackson Nsamba Kasozi to organize the new cabinet swearing-in so they can assume office immediately.

In a telephone interview, Premier Nsamba explained that as per the king’s instructions, the new cabinet will be sworn in sometime next week.

The Omukama first reshuffled his cabinet in February under acting prime minister Bonny Kiiza. Another cabinet was announced in April with new Prime Minister Reverend Jackson Nsamba Kasozi.

Although some kingdom subjects have always queried the continuous cabinet changes, saying this somehow destabilizes kingdom activities, Prime Minister Nsamba says the king has prerogative to reshuffle his cabinet at any time. ##
