Cabinet condemned leaders who they say were spreading falsehoods, negative and sectarian sentiments that are aimed at dividing and inciting the people of Uganda.

Cabinet has cautioned the public against making speculative statements about the cause of death of Gen. Aronda Nyakairima.

In a meeting Tuesday evening, cabinet noted that members of the public and some leaders were spreading what they called falsehoods, negative and sectarian sentiments. In a statement signed by Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, cabinet says such people are aiming at dividing and inciting the people of Uganda.

The caution comes after questions raised in the obituary of Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye and another attributed to Gen. David Sejusa, calling for investigations into the sudden death of the former army chief. They were concerned that the death comes just months after a letter had cautioned Aronda would be eliminated for his opposition to an alleged plan to groom the President's son, Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency.

Pathologists from the UPDF's medical team have been sent to Dubai to conduct a post mortem, and the results have not been made public yet.

Cabinet has also pushed the date of burial of the fallen general from Saturday to Sunday afternoon in his ancestral home in Rukungiri district.
