Up-coming athlete Peruth Chemutai on Wednesday won her second silver medal at the on-going 5th Commonwealth Youth Games in Apa, Samoa.
Beatrice Ayikoru, the Secretary Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) told URN that they are proud of Chemutai's performance.
On Monday Chemutai won silver in the 1500m race with a time of 4:18:22 behind Australia's Amy Hardling Delloze. Chemutai was in good form again on Wednesday to win silver in the 3000m to finish behind Kenya's Sheila Chelangat.
Uganda's other athlete Janat Chemusto also won two bronze medals in the 1500m and 3000m races. Uganda is now placed 18th on the medal table with Australia in the lead with 39 medals, while South Africa is second with 23 medals.
Yasin Abudallah Adiman was stopped in the quarter finals of the 56kg boxing competition, while Elisha Ekikubisenzatabatemwa will compete in the 50m freestyle swimming competition on Thursday.
In the previous 4th Edition of the Games that were hosted in Douglas, Isle of Man, Uganda sent a Contingent of 11 athletes and 3 officials and subsequently won 1 gold medal , 3 silvers and 1 bronze in athletics.
