The national football team of Comoros was this afternoon delayed at the Entebbe International Airport for over an hour because they lacked vaccination certificates.

The team arrived on an Emirates Airlines flight ahead of their Group D last game of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier. The team members were later vaccinated at the Airport before being allowed to leave for Kampala.

"We know Uganda needs to win to qualify. But we are also here to try and win," team captain Nadjim 'Jimmy' Abdou who plays in England told URN.

Uganda Cranes need to beat Comoros on Sunday at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole to be able to qualify for the 2017 Afcon that will take place in Gabon. Victory could send Uganda top of Group D if Burkina faso draw with Botswana.

Uganda Cranes won the first leg over Comoros in Moroni last year with the goal scored by attacking midfielder Tonny Mawejje.

Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has called his players to play their hearts out for their country to qualify for the Afcon event. "After taking 39 years without qualifying the players need to know that winning the game on Sunday means a lot to the nation," added the Serbian born coach.

Uganda last appeared in the Afcon competition in 1978 when they lost 2-0 to hosts Ghana in the final played in Accra. Uganda are also the only team in the region still in the group stage of the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
