Cop Arrested for Shooting Three People in Pallisa

Edison Adutu, a cop attached to Kadama Police Post in Pallisa has been arrested for shooting and seriously injuring three people. Adutu was picked up yesterday after shooting the trio at Kadama trading. The gun shot victims include Maganda a pupil of Kadama primary, Umalu Rwoza a student of Highlight Secondary school and Modo Karoli a resident of Bwase village. It is alleged that Adutu shot the trio when he opened fire on a crowd in an attempt to rescue a suspected bicycle thief from being lynched by a mob. Joel Aguma, the Eastern Regional Police Commander says that Adutu is being held Mbale Central Police station as police investigates the incident. He says that when investigations are complete police will submit his file to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice. Angry residents and local leaders in Kadama are accusing Adutu of acting recklessly. Bukoli Namulima, the LC III chairman of Kadama Sub County says that Adutu has been a habitual drunkard in the area. Namulima claims that Adutu used excessive force and could have been under the influence of alcohol.
