Michael Torach, a Police constable attached to Gulu Police station is set to lose his job for demanding a bribe of 1,000 shillings. He was suspended last week over allegations of soliciting a bribe of 1000 shillings from people visiting their relatives detained at Gulu Police station. The Police national disciplinary committee is to decide whether or not the Torach who has served the force for the past 24 years, is dismissed from the Police. Johnson Kilama, the Northern region police spokesperson says that the district Police court tried Torach and recommended that he be sacked. Torach who was working as a Cell Guard, appealed against the sentence, which he said was too harsh. Later, the regional police court made a recommendation that the constable should be discharged from force. Kilama says if discharged, Torach could be entitled to some of the benefits given to retiring officers while a charge of dismissal would see him leaving the force without any benefits. //Cue in: iWhen those people#i Cue out: i#discharged from the force.i//
