Court Remands Budaka Speaker for Robbery

The speaker of Kamonkoli Sub-County in Budaka district, Kepher Nayepe, has been remanded to Kamuge Prison for robbery and inciting violence. Nayepe was today charged before Grade One Magistrate, Ibrahim Zisanze. It is alleged that on April 14th this year, he mobilized his supporters electorate in Nasenyi village in Nyanza Parish to beat up members of the district revenue team. The gang stole from the revenue team assorted items including weighing scales and merchandise that had been confiscated from tax defaulters. Nayepe denied the charges. He said he was away in Mbale at the time and was called in to calm the situation. He blamed his political opponents for causing his downfall.
