The hosts now join Kenya Harambee Starlets, Ethiopia and Tanzania in the semi finals to be played on Sunday.


Fazila Ikwaput scored the all important goal for the home side against The Swallows at the stroke of half time with a beautifully taken loop past the advancing Burundian goalkeeper Belinda Ndoreraho.


In the second half the Burundi team who only needed a draw to advance pinned Uganda but failed to score. Nella Uwimana and Saidi Sakira were outstanding for the Burundi team. Uganda were dealt a blow when Christine Nambirige was rushed to hospital after picking an injury. Uganda's midfielder Jean Sseninde who plays in the UK thanked the home fans for the tremendous support.


In an earlier match Kenya humbled Zanzibar 11-0 in a group A game played at the same Fufa Technical centre. Kenya who will also take part in the 2016 Africa Women's Championship in Cameroon took a 3-0 first half lead through Christine Nafula with a brace and Jacky Ogol.


In the second half the Harambee Starlets run riot to score eight more goals through Vivian Corazon Odhiambo who netted a hat-trick, Esse Akida Mbeyu's brace, while Nafula and Ogol also got their second goals for the day. Mercy Achieng Onyango also scored one of the goals.


On Friday Tanzania's Kilimanjaro Queens will face Ethiopia in a Group B match. A record 50 goals have already been scored after eight games.
