Former health minister, Dr. Alex Kamugisha, currently a contestant for the Rujumbura NRM primary election has rejected Monday's poll results, that Put his opponent, Jim Muhwezi in the lead. Dr Kamugisha says he cannot accept the results because the poll was fraught with multiple irregularities, in favor of Jim Muhwezi. He says voting materials in Buhunga Sub County where he commanded support were deliberately delayed, affecting the final outcome of the result. Dr. Kamugisha says his poll agents were intimidated and chased away from the polling centers, to pave way for the poll fraud in favor of Muhwezi. He however claims that some of his agents who stood their ground and refused to be intimidated, were instead arrested by security personnel and taken to an unknown place only to resurface after the election. He said Muhwezi's supporters in Bwambara, Nyakagyeme and Ruhinda outrightly did the rigging. He also accuses the NRM district registrar Hillary Tindiwensi of closing his office and switching off his phone, during the day when he was most needed and said that this left the electorate confused. Dr Kamugisha says that he plans to petition the NRM Electoral commission, seeking to annul the results. But Muhwezi has denied any involvement of his supporters in any malpractice. He says that Dr Kamugisha should accept defeat because he is an unpopular candidate.
