Electoral Commission has explained why it indefinitely called off the Kihihi Town council LC 3 chairperson elections. Ferdinand Mulekezi, the Kanungu District Returning Officer, says the decision was reached after the Commission received evidence of massive ballot stuffing at several polling stations.

Mulekezi says Electoral Commission recovered pre-ticked ballot papers in favor of a particular candidate he didn't mention, while several others had already made their way into ballot boxes. According to Mulekezi, he called off the polls until further notice to prevent bloodshed.
