Edwin Mugisha Wins the 6th African Scrabble Tournament

Mugisha, who is currently Uganda’s 2nd seed in Scrabble beat off competition from 25 top scrabble players in the country including Uganda’s 1st seed Richard Geria.

Edwin Mugisha is the winner of the 6th African scrabble qualifier tournament. He emerged top of the 6th African qualifier tournament held at Bakuli hotel in Kampala. Mugisha, who is currently Uganda’s 2nd seed in Scrabble beat off competition from 25 top scrabble players in the country including Uganda’s 1st seed Richard Geria.
 
After a highly competitive 18 rounds, Mugisha registered 14 wins to beat Richard Geria with 12 wins.  
Lawrence Onyoin, the organizer of the tournament says both Mugisha and Geria will represent Uganda at the African Scrabble Championships scheduled to take place at Livingstone town in Zambia in November this year.


Mugisha says his weekend victory is his 22nd career win as a player, adding that he made it sure that Geria does not dominate the local scene after winning 5 consecutive tournaments. Geria says losing to second position does not mean that he is out, but he is still top of the national standings, adding that he will prove his performance on the African continent in Zambia.
