Recently Luweero Muslim district council passed a resolution suspending the district Kadhi Mustapha Lule Khamis over allegations of financial impropriety and abuse of office.

Lead by Luweero Muslim District Council Chairman Sheikh Muhamood Kamulali, they also appointed Sheikh Ibrahim Khamis as district Kadhi. They ordered Kadhi Mustapha Lule to handover the office but he refused saying the powers to appoint or suspend Kadhi are only  vested with the Mufti of Uganda.

Juma Mwanje a muslim at Kasana mosque says that such wrangles retards development and affect attraction of investors to the area.

He called for speedy reconciliation process championed by Mufti of Uganda Ramadhan Mubajje.

However  Muslim leaders opposed to the District Kadhi shunned the prayers at Kasana Mosque preferring to mosques from distant places. They told URN Reporter that they didn't want to clash at the mosque during prayers.

When called for comment, Luweero Muslim District Council Chairman, Sheikh Muhamood Kamulali said they are willing to reconcile with Kadhi but he must be apologetic and transparent in his leadership.

He also expressed skepticism weather Kadhi will live to his message saying they have been reaching  to him for reconciliation and address issues in vain.

There are fears among Muslims in Luweero that a third faction may emerge in the district.Currently there are two Muslim factions which include those that pay allegiance to Old Kampala leadership and another loyal to Kibuli leadership.
