Justine Lumumba, the NRM Secretary General has blamed Electoral Commission over the clashes between the NRM party supporters and those of presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi.
According to Lumumba, the recent incident in Kabarole where Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde appeared at the campaign venue of Mbabazi would have been avoided, if EC had informed the party of changes in his campaign programme.
Lumumba's statement follows Mbabazi petition to EC citing intimidation of his supporters by NRM mobilisers and supporters. It came after Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde landed an NRM branded chopper at Fort Portal Boma Grounds, where Mbabazi was expected to hold a campaign rally.
Speaking to the media today, Lumumba said candidates had agreed during a harmonisation meeting to inform the different camps of any changes in their campaign schedules.
Lumumba says according to the official campaign schedule, Mbabazi was expected to be in Gulu the day he showed up in Fort Portal.

Engineer Badru Kiggundu, the Electoral Commission chairman, told journalists this morning that the Commission had summoned NRM party officials to explain the incident.
EC spokesperson, Jotham Taremwa told URN on phone that a meeting between NRM officials and EC was ongoing by the time of filing this story.
