Evicted residents of Buhanika Sub County in Hoima district have pitched camp in the compound of Pius Wakabi, the Bugahya County Member of Parliament. More than 200 people were evicted from their homes in Rwensabya, Rwenjubu, Rutukuma and Kisuga villages early this week.

The families have been feuding with Keloyi Kiiza, Moses Kahwa, Dick Rwesemereza, Deo Agaba, Augustine Bisoborwa, Alex Abitekaniza and Innocent Ayesiga over two square miles of land for the last ten years. The eviction followed a court judgment in favor of Keloyi Kiiza, one of the land claimants.

Kizza is said to have sued the affected residents for encroaching on their land. On January 14, 2019, Masindi high court delivered judgment in his favor. The residents appealed the judgment the next day. However, on Monday, 15 men claiming to be court bailiff invaded the area accompanied by Police and UPDF soldiers and started burning people's houses and crops.

On Friday evening, the affected people including children, women and men stormed Wakabi's home demanding for food and other amenities. Led by Dominick Okumu, the Rwenjubu Village LC I Chairperson, the affected residents, said they don't have food to eat since they were brutally evicted from their homes.
