Ronald Ssenyondo, a resident of Kyakonda village, Kasaali Sub-county, Rakai district, went into hiding after committing the offense.
 
Luyobya Kaweewo, the Kyakonda LCI Chairman, says that Lukyamuzi Muzeeyi, a primary two pupil at Kyakonda primary school refused to go to school on Friday morning.

 Lukyamuzi tried to explain to his parents that he was not feeling well but his father and step-mother Nasuuna did not believe him.
 
In a bid to force the child to go to school, Ssenyondo started caning and kicking the boy to force him out of the house.
 
While trying to flee from his father's canes, Lukyamuzi reportedly banged his head against a wall and lost consciousness. His panic-stricken father then fled the home leaving Nasuuna with the body.
 
Concerned neighbours rushed to the home on hearing the boy's wails suddenly die down. This was when they found the boy already dead and arrested Nasuuna who they handed over to police.
 
Rose Nabakooza, the District Criminal Investigation Officer, confirmed the incident saying the body was taken for postmortem at Rakai hospital.
 
She says Nasuuna will be pressed to reveal the whereabouts of her husband.
 
Nabakooza says Nasuuna will be charged with connivance to commit a felony while Ssengendo faces manslaughter charges.
