Five people are in police custody in Kabale district in connection to the Tuesday night attack on two security operatives. One of the operatives Ben Turyakira from Maziba Sub County died of machete wounds while his colleague Bernard Rwabugwene attached to Bubaare Sub County is still in hospital. Kabale Resident district commissioner Cox Nyakairu Apuuli who also chairs the district security committee, says among is an employee of Solel Boneh International (SBI). Four others suspects were rounded up in Maziba subcounty to help police with investigations. Nyakairu declined to reveal the identities of the suspects for fear of scaring off their accomplices. He says the SBI employee recently attacked Rwabugwene, accusing him of failing their fuel siphoning business. Nyakairu says last week Rwabugwene led an operation that resulted in the recovery of several liters of illegal fuel that were being sold at Bubaare trading center. Nyakairu says the attempt on Rwabugwene's life might be connected to the operation. He says Rwabugwene is lucky to be alive because the assailants only managed to hack him before he escaped for dear life. //Cue in: The Giso was cut # Cue out: #we should step up the vigilance.// Kabale District police chief, Julius Butamara, says they are making progress and will leave no stone unturned. Butamara says they are hunting for another suspect Bright Kamugisha of Rubaya subcounty who hacked his father to death after they disagreed food.
