Former Mawogola County MP Candidate Held for Alleged Robbery

Sembabule police is holding Salim Kisekka, a former candidate for the Mawogola county seat and three others in connection to robbery and the murder of a boda boda motorist. Kisekka was picked up on Monday together with John Ssekamatte, Anthony Kulumba and Godfrey Kalibbala, all residents of Lugusulu sub-county. Abdul Kitimbo, the Sembabule District Police Commander says that the suspects are wanted in connection to the murder of 25-year-old Dominic Lubega, a boda boda motorist two weeks ago.

He says that the suspects have been attacking boda boda motorists with a gun and hammers. According to Kitimbo, Kisekka is suspected to be the ring leader of the group. Kitimbo claims that Kisekka has been impersonating CMI operatives to rob people in various districts in southern region. He says that during the arrest of Kisekka, they recovered a pair of UPDF uniform and some crystals of fake Gold. He also says that they found Kisekka in possession of four identity cards bearing different names.

Kitimbo says that police has also discovered a house in Nyanama in Kampala which the suspects have allegedly using to dismantle stolen motorcycles for sell as spare parts at Kisekka market. Kisekka blames his woes on political rivalry. The suspect who has refused to explain where he got the military uniform says that his arrest could be politically motivated. In 2011 Kisekka contested for the Mawogola county MP seat against foreign affairs minister Sam Kuteesa.

Iga Gonzaga, the Sembabule district Criminal Investigations officer says that the suspects will be charged with murder and robbery. He says that they have so far recorded three cases of robbery in the district since the beginning of this year. Gonzaga says that one person was killed in the attacks and two others escaped with injuries.
