Gateway Bus Kills one, Injures Another in Soroti

One person has died and another injured in a motor accident involving a bus belonging to Gateway Group of Companies and a motorcycle boda boda. The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Apalitunga village in Arapai Sub County, four kilometers from Soroti town.

Juma Hassan Nyene, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, identifies the deceased as Rose Ajomu, a resident of Dokolo village in Amuria district and the injured as Paul. According to Nyene, Ajomu was killed when the Kotido bound Gateway bus registration number UAJ 364M rammed into a motorcycle on, which she was riding.

 
Joseph Olupot, an eye witness told URN that prior to the accident, Police were seen chasing another boda boda rider, a thing he says could have led to the accident. Nyene says police was chasing another boda boda rider for causing another accident. 

"We have got counter accusations against the police but we are investigating the matter", Nyene said. According to Nyene, they have launched a manhunt for the bus driver and the errant boda boda motorist.

The deceased body and the injured were taken to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
