The ghost of an Mbale businessman who was murdered in 1999 has come back to haunt the election campaigns in Sironko district. Posters bearing the photograph of vehicle importing tycoon, Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo, have been scattered throughout Sironko with the bold statement "Remember Richard Makyese Blood" inscribed on them. When Richard Makyese, a suspected smuggler with numerous business interests was killed 11 years ago, Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo and eleven other men were arrested for the murder. Lumolo was acquitted by court. This didn't stop rumors of Makyese's death from spreading for several years. Mafabi Lumolo is the National Resistance Movement chairperson for Sironko and it came with little surprise to people in the district that allegations of his connection to Makyese's death were revived. Lumolo however says he is bewildered as to why a case that was resolved by court has returned at this time. He says it is wrong for him to be singled out among all the suspects that were questioned and charged with the murder. //Cue in: "It was an allegation ..." Cue out: "... not only me."// Grace Turyagumanawe, the chief police operations officer who is in Sironko this week, says the case is so unusual that the police are determined to get to the bottom of it. He says the police are interested in finding out who printed and distributed the posters and the purpose behind this. ###
