Uganda Cranes head coach Sébastien Desabre has asked his players to show better performance and pick maximum points in their last Group B game against Cote dÍvoire at the on-going Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Cranes who lost the opening game 3-1 to Zambia and 1-0 to Namibia will have to be at their best against Cote dÍvoire tonight in Marrakech, Morocco.

"We need every player to give in 100 percent commitment to make sure Uganda finishes third in the group. The evaluation of players continues and with the football exhibited in the first two matches, this will be a good stepping stone to continue with the team," said the coach.

Desabre who took over the Cranes on December 28th last year demanded positive energy from all the players. The team will welcome back striker Muhammad Shaban who missed the game against Namibia with an ankle injury.  The team will however miss defender Timothy Dennis Awanyi who was sent-off in the defeat to Namibia.

State Minister for Sport, Charles Bakkabulindi who is also in Morocco in an interview said that although the team failed to progress to the next round, they have benefited in-terms of exposure.

" Every team comes for a tournament with the objective of winning the trophy. But the Cranes have instead gained a lot of exposure for the players, built character and also helped the new coach plan better," he added.

In-case the Cranes win tonight they will finish third and pocket UGX720 million (US$200,000) in prize money. The fourth placed team in each group will take UGX630 million (US$175,000).
