Accordingto Aronda, the Internal Affairs Ministry inherited the national ID contract of2010, when it was about Euros 13m but it was contested by the finance ministry and URA. He says they eventually found a problem in the contract, which they are trying to negotiate with the contractor. Aronda noted that the negotiations are in advanced stage and soon the contractor will begin releasing the machines to government.
The general however appeared skeptical on delivering the national Identity card by the end of October as he had previously promised parliament. Aronda said producing the cards isn't an off cuff project like some politicians are exciting the public since it needs a lot of time. He revealed that while he would love to produce the cards as soon as rollment, data processing and  printing.
Sarah Banange, URA's public relations manager refused to comment on the issue, saying it would appear a witch hunt on the company in question. He said URA can't comment on individual tax , unless it is a very unique case.
