Pressure is mounting on Gulu chief administrative officer Dorothy Ajwang to resign as the district executive accuse her of corruption and abuse of office.
But Ajwang says the executive Committee chaired by Martin Ojara Mapenduzi, the district chairperson wants her to resign or request for transfer from the district over what she calls unclear conditions. She says, among others, Mapenduzi also accuses her of failing to steer the district to development.

Ajwang says the committee has already issued her a matching order to vacate the district when she appeared before it on Wednesday using. She accuses the district executive committee of foul play after it blocked her from appearing before parliamentary Local Government Accounts Committee headed by Aswa County MP Reagan Okumu.

Ajwang says the move prompted legislators on the committee to drag her to Police on charges of contempt of parliament, failing to account for public funds and abuse of office among others.

"These are carefully crafted plans to humiliate and oust me from my office. And I want to put it on record that I am very-very-uncomfortable to continue working here under these conditions," Ajwang stated.

Ajwang's woes stems from findings last month that she failed to account for millions of shillings in public funds meant to construct a theatre at Awach Health centre IV. She was also implicated for drawing cash for fuel paid at fuel stations and using her powers to divert certain funds without council approval.

Mapenduzi has declined give details on the matter saying it is not proper to discuss allegations against a public servant in the media. He however admitted that the committee has accorded Ajwang what he called "several fair hearings."

He said the committee is indeed petitioning the permanent secretary and Minister for Local Government to have Ajwang transferred from Gulu district.
