Aywee health centre III, in Gulu municipality, has been temporary closed for gross mismanagement.
The center was closed on Sunday following an impromptu visit by the division team, led by Geoffrey Otim, the LC III chairman.
Caroline Adupa-ngu, the officer in-charge of Aywee health centre, went on maternity leave without any formal handover to her deputy.
During the visit, the team found out that the health center was being managed by a security guard and a traditional birth attendant.
On Sunday morning, the center was still under lock, because the keys are kept by the guard. The guard only arrived at around midday, to the disgust of the visiting team.
Enraged by the situation at the health center, the LC III chairman closed the facility and asked the head of the health department in Gulu Municipal Council, to sack the current staff and replace it with a new team.
Robert Acaye, the officer in charge of Gulu Municipal health department, said administrative action would be taken against the health workers.
This is the second time in less than a year that Aywee health center is coming under scrutiny. The center hit the headlines after three of its workers were arrested on allegations of stealing drugs meant for the health center.
