Ojera Fatuma , the officer in charge of Kabigi Health Center III has been arrested for allegedly stealing the unit microscope which has been missing at the health facility.

It all started when the microscope went missing on Thursday which prompted Ojera to report the matter to police that responded by visiting the facility to start up investigations into the theft of the machine.

The in charge was incriminating workers at the health unit especially the laboratory assistant indentified as Moses Dungu for being involved in theft of the microscope.

However, attention turned to Ojera  after she was overheard making a phone call that she wanted three million shillings for equipment she had for sale.

Osibus Tumwine, the officer in charge of Butenga police station, says that they ordered Ojera to lead police officers to her home for a checkup.

Tumwine says that were surprised to land on the microscope hidden under Ojera's bed.

He says that Police has also recovered suspected stolen medicine in the house of the in charge.

The Southern Region Police Spokesperson, Noah sserunjogi, has confirmed Ojera's arrest saying that police investigations into the matter have kicked off.

Sserunjogi says that preliminary investigations indicate that the stolen microscope was donated to the health unit by government under Malaria control program of malaria consortium.

Sserunjogi says that Ojera is likely to face charges of theft when police investigations are completed.

Sserunjogi has however, condemned Ojera's conduct saying that police will not hesitate to arrest any health worker who will be found with stolen medicine or any medical equipments.    

Ojera denies stealing any health centren equipment saying that it's aimed at tarnishing her name and frustrate her plans to contest as the area district councilor in the 2016 general elections.
