Heavy Police Deployment as Rubanda Votes in NRM Primaries

There is heavy police deployment in Rubanda district as National Resistance Movement-party members vote flag bearers for the woman parliamentary seat and LC V chairperson.
 
Dozens of police officers on foot and motorized patrol deployed this morning in all sub counties in the district.
 
The newly created Rubanda district is comprised of seven sub counties and a town council.  Rubanda was curved out of Kabale district and became operational this financial year.

Nakitari says he has also deployed some officers on standby at the district headquarters to respond to emergencies.

Seven contestants are vying for election as the NRM party candidate for Rubanda parliamentary seat. They are Jacqueline Katabazi, Flavia Twongyeirwe, Evelyn Ninsiima, Evelyn Byarugaba, Hildah Kabarungi Karuhize, Prossy Begumisa Mbabazi and Joventa Turinomuhangi.
 
Those contesting for the election for election as NRM flag bearer for the LC V chairperson seat include Pastoli Twinomuhangi and Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema.
 
Maurice Kaitaba, the Kigezi NRM party registrar, told URN at about 9:30am this morning that voting had kicked off well at all the 458 polling station. He however, says there were some delays in Bubare and Bufundi sub counties due to the late delivery of voting materials to polling stations.
 
 
Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission is in the district to oversee the polls.
