Another guard told URN, that their bosses have been threatening them with firing squad should they speak to the media on their plight. "They always tell us that if you reveal whatever is happening here, you will be taken straight for firing squad because that is criminal before the Law," said the source.

Asked how they have been surviving this long without pay, some of the guards said they rely on proceeds from petty businesses done by their spouses while others say they depend on the little they cultivate in their gardens. But Robert Kazora, a Director in the company denies allegations of not paying their staff, saying they have started paying for the month of September.

"If people from the west Nile region do not want to work I will discard them and bring my own people otherwise I am not a public servant I am a business man. I am not accountable to any one and we are not donors, I can't satisfy everyone," he said. He challenged the media to write stories about drunken guards and politicians of the area who have failed to employ their own people of instead of following the events in his company.

" I can decide to close west Nile and we withdraw, can you (reporter) employ these people, why can't you blame your leaders for not employing your people and appreciate the fact that someone from Western Uganda is doing you a favor,"  Kazora fumed.

On the issue of NSSF contributions, Kazora said unless an employee is on permanent contract, the company can't remit any contributions to NSSF. He declined details of those benefiting from the contributions. Heif Group offer security services to private and public companies and individuals.
