The land Cruiser Prado registration number LG0220-10 white in color was attached by Masindi High court bailiffs on Monday afternoon from Supersonic Auctioneers and Court Bailiffs following the district's failure to pay Ugx 9.16million shillings to Abdulmalik Mugisa, a Hoima businessman.
The money is part of the Ugx 19million that accrued to the businessman in general court damages awarded to him by Masindi High court in April last year. In 2006, Mugisa sued Hoima district lands office for delayed processing of a land title for plot 1-3-5, in his ownership located on government road in Hoima town. The lands office instead processed a land title for the same plot in the names of Hoima district local government.
For seven years, the two parties engaged in a legal battle until April last year when court dismissed a defense filed by the district lands office with costs. Court also ordered the district to pay the businessman Ugx 19 million.
Mugisa told Uganda Radio Network that a year ago; the district paid him Ugx 10million but has since failed to clear the balance, forcing him to attach the district vehicle.
Ronald Mutesa, a bailiff from Supersonic Auctioneers said the attachment was based on a court order dated August 22. The car will be advertised for sale in the next 15 days if no response is got from the district within the specified period.

Cue out: …release the vehicle."//
Hoima chief Administrative Officer George Ntulume said he was not aware of the attachment, as he was out of the district at the time.
