Iganga district councilors have resolved to pass a vote of no confidence in the new district vice chairperson, Mariam Nangobi.

Trouble stems from reports that Nangobi forged her academic papers.

The councilors had approved Nangobi as the district vice chairperson after presenting papers, indicating that she had a senior four certificate obtained from Bukoyo SSS in 1997.

But records obtained from Bukoyo SSS by Godfrey Musobya, the Bulamogi Sub-County councilor, show that Nangobi has never been a student at the school.

The records were presented to council chaired by speaker Herbert Kisame. Kisame advised councilors to write a petition recalling Nangobi from this position.

But Nangobi says the move to throw her out of office is unfounded and she denies uttering false documents.
