IGG Orders Dismissal of Jinja Land Board Secretary for Forgery

Lydia Mwembe, Secretary Jinja District Land Board is in trouble over allegations of uttering false academic documents. The Inspector General of Government Raphael Baku wants Mwembe dismissed from her post. In his letter dated August 2nd, Baku directs Jinja Chief Administrative Officer Ben Otim to forward Mwembe to the District Service Commission for dismissal.
 
 
Bakuaccuses Mwembe of uttering false documents to acquire the job of Jinja land board secretary and her involvement in dubious land transactions. It all started after Mwembe was found guilty of uttering false documents by the Anti-Corruption court in Kampala in February 2011. It is alleged that Mwembe forged her first class law degree yet she obtained a pass degree.
 
 
In his letter also copied to the permanent secretary ministry of Local Government and Jinja District Land Board chairperson Baku says that Mwembe should be relieved of her duties in public interest and public service regulations. Baku has also asked Mwembe to refund up to shillings 10 million which she earned in form of a salary within six months or be jailed for one year.
 
 
Earlier on Mwembe was interdicted together with Jinja Lands Officer Aisha Ahabbo for uttering false academic documents and their alleged involvement in dubious land transactions. Mwembe has declined to comment on the matter. Ben Otim, Jinja Chief Administrative Officer says that he has already written to the District Service Commission as instructed by the IGG.
