Iron Bar Hit Men Attack Gulu Talk Show Host

Late last month, a student of Gulu Army Secondary School was attacked by suspected iron bar hit men at Bomah a few meters away from the office of Gulu Resident District Commissioner.

Steven Balmoi, a talk show host and presenter at Mega FM in Gulu town is nursing serious injuries he sustained in an attack by unknown iron bar hit men. The iron bar hit men attacked Balmoi on Friday night at his home behind Pece War memorial stadium in Pece Division.
 

His wife, Immaculate Katwesigye says Balmoi had just returned from work and parked his car next to their house at around 11pm when the hit men struck him on the head from behind.
 
 
According to Katwesigye, Balmoi fell on the ground and started screaming for help, which attracted residents forcing his attackers to flee with their victim's mobile phone.
 
Balmoi was rushed to a clinic for medical assistance with deep cuts on the head. James Asubu, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence at Gulu Central Police Station, says they have opened a case of assault. 


Balmoi becomes the third journalists to be attacked in Gulu since this year begun. Two other journalists, Okano Emar, a journalist working with Northern Uganda Media club (NUMEC) and a photo journalist, Pat Larubi were also attacked from Pece Division.

He died later at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital after suffering internal bleeding and deep cuts on the head resulting from the attack.
