Ishaka Town Agent Held Over Theft of UGX 48 Million

Michael Ntegyerize, a town agent attached to Central Division in Ishaka Bushenyi municipality is in trouble for embezzling over shillings 48 million. Ntegyerize was picked up on Wednesday after several traders reported him to the town clerk for issuing them with forged receipts for their trading licenses.  

Marshal Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson says that the town clerk notified police leading to the arrest of the official. Tumusiime says that during his arrest, Ntegyerize was found in possession forged receipt books and a stamp of the treasurer Bushenyi municipal.
 
He says they have launched a manhunt for two other officials involved in the financial scam. Deo Ndimo, the town clerk Bushenyi Ishaka municipality says that the auditor general's report of the last financial year's shows that 48 million shillings was missing in the municipal books of accounts.

He says they instituted investigations which led to the arrest of Ntegyerize. Jackson Kamugasha, the mayor Ishaka Bushenyi municipality says they have asked police to carry out extensive investigation into the dealings of all municipal officials to end corruption among civil servants.

However, Ntegyerize told reporters at Bushenyi central Police station that he is only being witch hunted by his supervisor who wants to replace him.
