The woman Member of Parliament for Isingiro district Kyokuhairwa Kyaka Viccy has died in a fatal accident this evening on Masaka road. The Police spokesman Central region Musa Kafeero says the accident occurred at around 4:30Pm.
The MP was on her way to Kampala. Kafeero says the MP's car registration number UAJ 336L a Toyota corolla collided with a Masaka bound taxi of registration number UAK 092X at Mitala Maria.
The late Kyokuhairwa was in the company of her mother-in-law who is yet to be identified. She died shortly after being admitted at Nkozi Hospital. Kyokuhairwa's husband is still admitted in hospital in critical condition.
Kafeero explains that eight other people believed to be passengers from the taxi are also admitted in a critical condition. He says the injured will be transferred to Mulago national referral hospital after obtaining first aid.
Kyokuhairwa Kyaka has been a member on the parliamentary Committees of Defence and Internal Affairs, Natural Resources, and the Public Accounts Committee. Kyokuhairwa won the 2006 election in Isingiro district woman parliamentary seat with a landslide victory of 94,258. Her closest rival Kyokuhairwe Stella Masiko Kafureka polled 10,739 while Biriwuija Edith Mwebaze managed 7,571 votes.
