Uganda Cranes tactician Milutin Micho Sredojevic has said his team needs to keep working hard in the on-going 2018 FIFA Wold Cup qualifiers. The Cranes held star-studded Black Stars of Ghana to a 0-0 draw yesterday at the Tamale Stadium in a Group E match.
The Cranes held star-studded Black Stars of Ghana to a 0-0 draw yesterday at the Tamale Stadium in a Group E match. Speaking to URN on Saturday, Sredojevic said it was a good start to earn a point away from home.
"We need to make sure that we also take advantage of our home games because what helps to qualify for a big tournament is by winning at home," added the Serbian.
Although Uganda had a few shots at goal, the defending department handled by Nicholas Wadada, Isaac Isinde, Joseph Ochaya and Murushid Juuko were outstanding and kept the Black Stars attackers at bay.
Goalkeeper Denis Onyango also showed his prowess when he stopped several attempts at goal including two from skipper Asamoah Gyan.
Sudan referee El Fadil Mohamed booked Wadada, Khalid Aucho and Juuko. Ghana played without the injured duo of Andre 'Dede' Ayew and Kwadwo Asamoah.
Charles Bakkabulindi, the State Minister for Sports told URN that he was happy with the result. "We have a good team and need to keep motivating them," added Bakkabulindi.
Congo Brazzaville will host Egypt on Sunday in the second Group E game. The Cranes will return to action against Congo Brazzaville on November 7th at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
