Jamil Mukulu Detained at Nalufenya Police

Jamil Mukulu, the Allied Democratic Front - ADF Commander who was arrested in Tanzania has been paraded before journalists at Nalufenya police in Jinja this afternoon.

Mukulu, who has been on the Interpol red notice, was also declared a fugitive by the United Nations Security Council in 2008 for various offences committed in Uganda.

The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kaihura said Mukulu is still a suspect under custody by the Uganda Police and will be arraigned in court to hear cases preferred against him and 25 others, arrested early this year.

Kaihura, says he, and others are accused of crimes against humanity, terrorism, murder and rape which Jamil Mukulu, as an ADF operative committed in the last 20 years.

Atrocities said to have been committed by the ADF under Mukulu include; the attack on  Kichwamba, bombings on buses and bars before 2000. He and others are also accused of killing more than 10 Muslim clerics in Central and Eastern Uganda since 2012.

Mukulu was arrested on 19,march-2015 in Tanzania after he attempted to acquire travel documents for his children, disguising as David Amosi Majengo. He was brought to Uganda from Tanzania on July 10, 2015 after an extradition proceeding that took place in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.

The court in Dar-es - salaam remanded him for 15 days after the ruling that as mandated by law. After failure to appeal against the ruling, Mukulu was transferred to Uganda. He is detained at Nalufenya police station in Jinja.

The 51- Year  old Mukulu, appeared depressed, constantly looking at Gen. Kaihura with a daring glance.

Jamil Mukulu, has already been summoned by Jinja high court together with 24 other suspects and Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi who is in Australia for committing crimes against the people of Uganda and its government.
