The Jinja High Court resident judge, Justice Eva Luswata has relaxed the bail terms of Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister, Thembo Kistumbire.

Kistumbire will now be allowed to report to the deputy registrar of the International Crimes Division-ICD of the High Court in Kampala other than travelling to Jinja High Court every month.

Luswata says that Kistumbire will report to ICD on 16th, September 2018.

Kistumbire was granted bail together with Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere and committed to the ICD last year. Part of fulfilling their bail obligations, the duo had to report to the deputy registrar of the Jinja High Court every second Monday of every month.

Kitsumbire through his lawyer, Eron Kiiza had made an application requesting the Jinja High court to review the bail terms and allow him to report to a court within Kampala because transport to Jinja district on a monthly basis was a burden.

He also wanted court to grant him permission to visit Kasese where he has not stepped foot for the past one year.

Margret Nakigudde, the Resident State Attorney, did not object to Kistumbire reporting to ICD but asked court to grant her office a period of two weeks so as to investigate the scene of crime before Kitsumbire is given access, a request which court granted.

On his part, Kiiza says that the main application is on-going and all the bail terms will be reviewed.

"We filed this application to grant our client total freedom and we hope that at an opportune time, these terms shall be scraped off to allow him travel to his homeland freely," Kiiza says.
