Former Buganda Government minister Joyce Sebugwawo is to be fronted as the Forum for Democratic Change candidate for the for the Lubaga LC3 seat. FDC president, Kizza Besigye, announced today that John Kikonyogo, who is the party's Secretary for Mobilization in the Buganda region, had agreed to withdraw his interest in the election in favor of Sebugwawo. He said Kikonyogo decided to concentrate his efforts on rally support for the FDC in time for the 2011 general elections. //Cue in: iWe were pleased #i Cue out: i# Joyce Sebugwawo.i// Sebugwawo has been a vocal supporter of Kizza Besigye since his fallout with President Yoweri Museveni in the run up to the 2001 elections and was an active participant of the Reform Agenda, the political organization that was a precursor for the FDC. Her support for the political opposition caused a rift between her and the Buganda government and she was sacked from her position in the Bulange shortly after the elections. Joyce Sebugwawo joins five other candidates in the race for the Lubaga Division seat which fell vacant following death of the former LC3 chairperson, Winnie Makumbi.
