Jubilations in Sembabule as Sentongo Takes an Early Lead

Hundreds of supporters of the incumbent LC 5 chairman for Sembaule district Herman Sentongo have started jubilating his early lead in the elections. Preliminary results from 8 polling stations have put Sentongo in the lead, ahead of his main rival,Dr. Elly Muhumuza. Sentongo stood as an independent candidate, after he lost the National Resistance Movement party primaries. Dr. Muhumuza was the NRM party candidate. URN correspondent in Sembabule says celebrations have started across the district. All roads are jammed with Sentongo's supporters waving tree branches and singing victory. In Masaka, the incumbent LC 5 chairman Vicent Bamulangaki Sempija has taken an early lead also. Sempija has reportedly beaten his rival Ben Bukenya in Nyendo Senyange division, and Kimanya Kyabakuza divisions. Rakai district, incumbent LC V chairman Vincent Semakula, is also in the lead against FDC's Bagenda Senfuka. In Mpigi district, provisional results indicate that NRM flag bearer, Badru Kabega Mukalazi Musisi is in the lead. So far, he has polled 3,808 votes while his main challenger Joseph Nsereko of DP has 450 votes.
