Kabaka Mutebi noted that since 1920, Bugerere county has been hosting people from different parts of Uganda and neighboring countries citing Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo and others but that Buganda Kingdom recognizes all these different tribes and nationalities as its people.
This was during his communication to his subjects at Ntenjeru Sub County headquarters at the end of his three day visit to Kayunga.
The Kabaka officially paid tribute to persons who lost their lives, property and those that were arrested during the 2009 Kayunga riots when his team was blocked from visiting the area.
The blockage followed demands by the disputed cultural leader of the Banyala, Captain Baker Kimeze that Mengo should seek permission from him before the Kabaka could visit the area, but Mengo officials dismissed Kimeze as a government creation from whom the Kabaka could not beg.
The 2-day riots left 14 people dead and over 100 injured.
He noted that since 1920, Bugerere has been hosting people from different parts of Uganda and neighboring countries citing Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo and others but that Buganda Kingdom recognizes all these different tribes and nationalities as its people.
He appealed to his subjects in Bugerere County not to allow politics deter them from enjoying their freedom and peace.

Kabaka Mutebi decried the increasing levels of unemployment in the country but appealed to parents to nurture their childrens talents rather than deterring them from pursuing their interests.
The Kabaka further expressed concern on the commercialization of introduction ceremonies and marriages saying these do not bring monetary gains. He says instead similar fundraising drives should be used to empower the youth economically.

He noted that the events tantamount to stopping a husband from entering some rooms in his House. He also noted that the Kabaka of Buganda has since emerged a victor, given the overwhelming support he received during the just concluded visit.
He adds that the Kabaka will henceforth be referred to as Sabawanguzi to signify the victory.
