The process to remove Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago continued on Monday with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councillors meeting at City Hall to impeach the embattled mayor.

The process was presided over by Minister for the Presidency and Kampala Frank Tumwebaze. Tumwebaze had constituted a tribunal to hear a petition filed by 17 KCCA councillors earlier in the year challenging the leadership of Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago.

That Tribunal headed by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire found Lukwago guity on several counts including abuse of office, incompetence and attempting to sabotage the activities of the Authority he was the head of. The Tribunal then recommended that Lukwago be impeached.

However, while the voting process went ahead in City Hall, Lukwago lawyers attempted to halt the process by securing an interim injunction.

We bring you scenes from City Hall that gripped Kampala for much of the day yesterday.
