Kamwenge Man Sentenced to Two Years for Decampaining Immunisation

Court in Kamwenge has sentenced a man to two years imprisonment for de-campaigning the just concluded mass measles immunization exercise.

Kamwenge Grade two magistrate, David Mwine this afternoon found Timothy Kanyesigye, a member of the Nyakaigabo cult guilty of committing the offence.

Court heard that Kanyesigye a resident of Nkoma parish, locked up his two children in his house on 8 June this year, to stop them from being immunized.

Kanyesigye pleaded guilty to the charges saying his religion prohibits him from seeking medical attention.

He vowed before the margistrate to continue blocking his children from getting immunised for any disease.

In his ruling, Margistrate David Mwine said he was sentencing Kanyesigye to two years in jail to serve as an example to other Nyangakaibo cult members, who continue de-campaigning government programs.

Member of the Nyangakaibo cult don't take their school and do not own mobile phones, cars, watches amongst other things.
