Kawanda Police Boss Transferred Over Incompetence

The Inspector General of Police, Major General Kale Kayihura, has ordered the transfer of the Kawanda Police Post personnel, for incompetence. The order stems from complaints by the people in Kawanda about the failure of the police in the area to handle criminal cases. Last month, four school children were injured in a gruesome attack by unknown assailants. One of the children was killed in the attack. In another incident, an elderly man and a woman were attacked and killed by unknown people. James Kigonya, the Nakisanjja Parish, local council chairperson, said police was conniving with criminal gangs in the area to frustrate some cases. According to Kigonya, the person who attacked and killed the elderly man was arrested and handed over to Kawanda Police Post. He was released without charge shortly thereafter. The accusations have landed the Officer in Charge of Kawanda Police Post only identified as Mulenganyi in jail while some of his personnel have been transferred.
