According to Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori Region police spokesperson, the three were hacked to death by unknown people near Ngamba health centre III, in Ngamba Sub County. The death toll since the attacks broke out on Tuesday morning has now risen to 20.
Kayihura travelled to Bundibugyo this morning and is currently in a closed meeting with security chiefs from the Rwenzori region at Bundibugyo Police Station. Kayihura will later meet retired Lt. Col Martin Kamya, the leader of Obundingya Bwa Bamba (OBB) cultural institution.
On Thursday, the IGP visited the scene of the attacks in Ntandi, Kirumiya and Kitere villages and requested the residents to return to their homes. Kayihura also said that police will deploy in the mountainous areas of Bughendera County, where the attackers descend from to carry out attacks in the community.
