Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC defender Savio Kabugo has been rushed to hospital in Lyantonde after a KCCA double cabin pickup was involved in an accident this evening.

Kabugo was part of the KCCA FC players traveling to Ntungamo ahead of a Uganda Cup final against SC Villa on Saturday.

"We are very lucky to survive because the double cabin was moving fast and a lorry made a quick turn in-front of us. Our driver had no choice but to knock the track. Savio and the driver have been rushed to hospital injured," David Obua, who was one of the passengers in the double cabin pickup and trains with KCCA FC told URN on phone.

Club Secretary David Tamale confirmed that Kabugo and the driver Friday Kajoko have been rushed to hospital in Lyantonde where the accident took place. He said Obua and Joseph Ochaya who were also in the same double cabin are not affected.

The rest of the players have continued with the journey to Ntungamo in the team bus.

Kabugo who was part of the Cranes team in the 2015 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers has not played this season after undergoing a surgery.
