Azam Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC have been drawn to face Angola's Club D le Agosto in the preliminary round of the 2017 CAF Total Champions League.

In the draws made on Wednesday in Cairo, KCC FC will host the Angolan champions first between February 10-12 in Kampala before the return leg in Luanda after a week.


"We shall have to work hard ahead of that game because teams from Angola are not that easy to face," KCCA FC assistant coach Morley Byekwaso after hearing news of the draw. In-case KCCA FC make it past that phase then they stand a chance of facing defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Other sides from the Council for East and central African Football Associations (Cecafa) that have been drawn include Kenya's Tusker who will face AS Port Louis 200 from Mauritius. Former Ugandan international George Nsimbe is Tusker FC's new coach.

Sudan's El Merreikh will be up against Sony Nguema (Equatorial Guinea), Young Africans of Tanzania against Ngaya de Mbe (Comoros), while Rwanda's APR will be up against Zanaco (Zambia).


Sports Club Vipers who won the Uganda Cup were drawn to face Volcan de Moroni from Comoros in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns where Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango features are the CAF Champions League Cup holders, while TP Mazembe (DR Congo) won the CAF Confederations Cup.
