KCCA FC to Face Azam, Adama City in Cecafa Kagame Cup

Uganda's KCCA FC have today been drawn to face Azam FC (Tanzania), Adama City (Ethiopia) and South Sudan's Malakia FC in the Group stages of the 2015 Cecafa Kagame Club Championship.

The event will take place in the Tanzanian capital Dar es salaam July 18th to August 2. Nicholas Musonye, the Cecafa Secretary General told URN that they are hopeful the event will be successful and competitive.

KCCA FC who were knocked out at the semi final stage by eventual winners El merriekh of Sudan will this time have the chance to prove a point under new coaches Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa.

"According to the group we shall go past that stage. We are preparing well," Ssimbwa told URN on phone. El merriekh and El Hilal of Sudan will miss the regional event as they are busy with group stage matches in the lucrative CAF Champions League.

Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans have been drawn in Pool A alongside Kenya's Gor Mahia, Khartoum (Sudan), KMKM (Zanzibar) and Somalia's Telecom.

Uganda Cranes players Geoffrey Walusimbi and Khalid Aucho feature for the Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia.Another  team from Sudan Al Shandy, APR (Rwanda), LLB (Burundi) and Somalia's Heegan FC will be placed in Group B.

Two teams from each of these three groups, alongside the two best losers will proceed to the quarter-finals of the competition with all matches in the three-week competition being played at the 60,000-seater National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Cash prizes worth US$60,000 await the best three teams.
