Former NRM supporters in Kiboga, now standing as Independent candidates for the various elective positions have foernmed a coalition intended to boost their support and cast away the NRM party support in the district. Majority of the independent candidates are questioning the legitimacy of the NRM party candidates who they say were elected through a fraudulent election. Led by Sirajje Nkugwa Kizito, the incumbent district chairman, the independents say they plan to launch parallel campaigns against the NRM. Speaking to Journalists in Kiboga, Nkugwa said the coalition is aimed at ousting the dominance of the ruling NRM party from Kiboga district. Nkugwa, who lost the primaries to Israel Yiga, is confident that the unwavering determination of the independents will lead them to victory over the NRM party. He says that the coalition is already receiving financial support from its sympathizers both in Kampala and Kiboga. Minister Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, heads the current NRM leadership in Kiboga district, which has been tasked to spearhead the campaigns for the party presidential candidate. Kiboga district NRM party leadership however says they are not by what they term as a coalition of disgruntled party primary election losers. Madalasati Lubega, the district NRM party secretary general, says Nkungwa's coalition members should desist from using the NRM party colors, and slogans. But Rosemary Zimulinda who was on Thursday nominated to contest against Minister Ruth Nankabirwa for the Kiboga district woman parliamentary seat, says the coalition is a group of NRM party members opposed to the conspiracies within the NRM party. She has vowed to continue using all the symbols, which portray the NRM ideologies.
