UNRA Re-opens Soroti- Moroto Road

Ahmed Awoii, the Acting Station engineer Soroti area, Uganda National Road Authority UNRA, says they have opened the road to traffic after completing repairs on the bridge. According to Awoii, heavy trucks now safely use the Soroti - Moroto road.

Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA has opened Soroti - Moroto high way to traffic following the repair of Komolo Bridge. The Authority diverted heavy traffic from the road two weeks ago citing cracks on Komolo Bridge.

The Bridge crosses over Komolo River, which flows into Lake Bisina. Komolo Bridge is about 35 kilometers from Soroti town and 10 kilometers to Katakwi town council.

Drivers plying the Soroti - Moroto route have appreciated the works done by the Authority. Abdul Otim, who spoke on behalf of drivers at Soroti - Moroto stage wants UNRA to stop trucks ferrying limestone from Moroto from using the road. He says the trucks carry excess load, which is likely to affect the bridge in a very short time.
