One of the residents, Moses Mukasa, a resident of Ntwetwe town council says the office space was once a kitchen for the former sub-county chief who previously resided at the premise. He adds that it is demeaning the status and the dignity of the RDC to perform official duties in a kitchen space.

Kyankwanzi Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Dan Muganga Turyahabwe has rejected an office reserved for him at Ntwetwe town council headquarters claiming that it is unhygienic and inappropriate.

He says the office is poorly ventilated, lacks proper furniture and needs fumigation.

Muganga was deployed to Kyankwanzi in the recent reshuffle and new appointments of the resident district commissioners and their deputies.

He now performs his duties in the same office with his superior, Robert Kashaija, at Lwebisiriza in Butemba town council, the seat for Kyankwanzi district head quarters. Ntwetwe town council is located 15Kilometers away from the district head quarters.

Muganga’s predecessor, James Kiriti used to operate from the same office though he equally voiced concerns about its appalling state.

But Edward Mulira, the Ntwetwe town clerk says that the RDC’s office was not part of their arrangement and no office space for the same was planned for although they were requested to improvise when the former deputy RDC, James Kiriti, was deployed there.

He adds that plans to renovate the office were also halted when the place was cordoned off as a crime scene following a robbery.

However, Francis Sseruwu, the Ntwetwe town council Engineer says his department has instructions to have the office of the deputy RDC renovated and fumigated. He explains that the item has already been included in the department’s work plan for immediate implementation.
