Lango Muslims Appeal For Mosque Completion

The Muslim leadership in Lango region is seeking government support to complete the stalled Lira Main mosque. Sheikh Ishaq Salim Nangoye, the Kadhi Lango Muslim District, says about Shillings 4.5 billion is required to complete the mosque that was started by the late President, Iddi Amin in 1975.



 
According to the plan, the mosque is comprised of a health facility, dressing rooms and convert center.  Sheikh Nangoye asks President Yoweri Museveni to lend a hand like he has done with other denominations, saying Muslims are unable to contribute resources to complete the mosque.

However, Hajji Muhamad Mayanja, the Presidential advisor in charge of Resident District Commissioners said recently they were in talks with government to complete the mosque. The stalled mosque is found at Lango Quran primary school.
