The Lira district National Resistance Movement-NRM party Administrative Secretary is out on the streets following the closure of his office over accumulated rent arrears. The party offices were locked up this morning by the land lord, Moses Okello Oleng.

According to Okello, the party owes him Shillings 4.5 million in accumulated rent since September 2015. Okello warns that unless the NRM secretariat in Kampala acts immediately, he will be left with no option but to institute legal action.

"They are no longer picking my phone calls, even the call from the administrator NRM Lira Office, I have decided to close the office of NRM Lira District until they pay my rent bills" reads Okello's letter.

Kasamba acknowledges the closure of the party offices, saying they land lord gave them a five day's ultimatum to clear rent, which expired on Tuesday. According to Kasamba, the Finance department at the NRM party headquarters is making everything possible to clear the arrears mid-December.

Robert Abak, the Lira Resident District Commissioner, declined to comment on the matter, saying he works for the government and has no information about the NRM party office.
